Premise is misled, creates more harm for all women

The entire debate about making women safer by preventing trans women from entering women's bathrooms or locker rooms is based on assumptions and little to no actual risk. What is happening, however, is masculine looking cis-women are now being harassed on a regular basis because they are being accused of being trans. If a man wants to take advantage of women in private spaces, they can, and already do. They don't need to go through transition, hormones, surgery, public humiliation and ostracization to do so. They may not even be attracted to women! We don't ban lesbians from women's bathrooms, why are we banning trans women? What has been the actual documented and studied trends that show this is a serious threat? What have been the actual circumstances that show that trans people are in any way a risk in bathrooms or locker rooms? What I have seen time and time again year over year is trans people being assaulted and murdered on a regular basis due to rampant bigotry. Transgender people are four times as likely to experience violent assault, and murder of transgender people doubled between 2017 and 2021. Whereas statistics of crime perpetrated BY a trans person, I can't find a single one indicating that trans people are more violent or more of a risk than the general population.

For sports, there are many that gender has no bearing on safety or advantage, and yet there are women's leagues. My roller derby league is a full-contact sport open to all marginalized genders because we, women, trans, and nonbinary individuals should have a seat at the table. We should all be given the opportunity to compete in a cis-male dominated world. Creating opportunities for women who have largely been disenfranchised in the sport world and then closing the door behind you is disgusting behavior. Trans women athletes are not taking anything away from ciswomen by existing in very very small numbers. There are only 10 trans athletes competing in the NCAA. Ten. Total. Where are they supposed to go? Where is this "takeover" that people are claiming is hurting women everywhere? Poor college athletes being disenfranchised by trans women? It's a non-issue. It is fueled by identity politics and bigotry. Don't use trans women as the excuse for your poor behavior, poor understanding, and poor performance.
