A trojan horse of bigotry towards your own community

I believe that there are several fallacies that completely invalidate the arguments made in this petition. For one, there is zero mention of trans men competing in men's sports, why is that not in the scope of changes if trans women are? The claim of a competitive advantage holds so little weight when talking about sports, a field DOMINATED by genetic advantages. Would you ban all tall people from playing basketball because you want to keep games fair? The boys that hit puberty first or have the biggest growth spurts should be banned too shouldn't they? You'd crush dreams just because Timmy never grew past 5'6? Something he had no control over? There are examples of this across all sports of all kinds. Secondary sex characteristics are a topic often overlooked in order to persecute and exclude trans people from society. An example of this is when a cis woman develops an excess of testosterone -- an occurrence that isn't even uncommon. Given the metric of "trans women have too much testosterone, granting an inherent advantage making the playing field unfair," would that "inherent advantage" not also be present in cis women that naturally produce an exceptional amount of testosterone? Does this petition aim to ban them as well or is it just used as a shield for bigotry?

More so, to claim the idea that trans men and women AREN'T men and women respectively is an abstract and outdated claim to make that has been disproven not only by modern day sociological and psychological studies and papers, but also in history across countless cultures. There have been written accounts in Roman history, Indigenous history, Thai, Arab, etc, etc. These aren't new ideas suddenly taking over that necessitate fear and action in response. These are basic identities of the person finally being given labels and names that facilitate people being comfortable with themselves, and there is no reason to strip those people of their place in society because some aren't comfortable with their existence. Keeping trans people out of sports, requiring a physical requirement to a societal concept all mirror many of the struggles that people of color faced during times of segregation, and proposing us as a society to revert back to doing that is absurd.

On the topic of bathrooms/locker rooms, the fears listed reveal a clear double standard. The idea is that you are keeping "men" in women's spaces and this threatens women because the belief is that these "men" will use this as an opportunity to assault women. Obviously I feel its important to bring up the fact that it is not once brought up regarding trans men in men's locker rooms, as I just feel as not even mentioning it in passing does give an air of ignorance to the subject itself. Additionally, if trans women are assaulting cis women as the claim presents, why is there no concern about women assaulting women? Or men assaulting men? Or what is seen most commonly in society today, men assaulting women regardless of societal barriers like the label on a bathroom door. It'd be downright ignorant to think that the prevalence of that being the actual case. I think what's actually worth bringing up if we're so concerned about women being assaulted, is the fact that trans women experience significantly more physical and sexual abuse in proportion in comparison to other adult populations. Trans women are not the abusers. They are the victims. Treating them all like this and discrediting their identities and them as people does nothing more than to put down members of your own community for no other reason than the idea that they are different than you are.

In conclusion, I find this petition and the policies it inquires to be fallible, bigoted, and unfair to people who just want to be people. To insist that women are currently threatened by the existence of trans women is either a clear sign of a lack of education and understanding towards these women if true as you claim, or a blatant attempt at sowing seeds of fear into the masses you hope to bandwagon on your discrimination train. This entire petition is an outrage to not just trans women, but the entire LGBTQ community that lives alongside everyone.
