Continuing education for tradesmen

There is a newly enacted requirment for mechanical lisencees to complete a multi hour course every TWO years so as to be apprised of  changes that have occurred in the International Mechanical Code (IMC).  Since the IMC is reviewed and changes are made every THREE years, the TWO year requirement for updated will result in a redundant, wasteful class every other time.  I would suggest that for mechanical lisencees, as well as any other trades governed by a code  that change every three years, the lisence renewal process be changed to correspond to the adoption or isssuance of each new code book edition.  Additionally, as an alternative to a class, I would see it beneficial to the residents of the state that the lisencee be charged for and receive the new code book with the renewed lisence, instead of sitting  in a ineffective class.  Putting more code books into more trademen's hands will result in more work being performed properly
