Adoption and Foster Care Requires Good Parents and Care Givers

The safety, health, and happiness of the child should be the primary concern for decided where to place a child. Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation has no place in this decision-making process. The state has a responsibility to ensure that State-licensed child placing agencies do not use archaic and narrow-minded views to inform their decisions regarding the best interests of a child. For the children who need a family to love and support them, finding a loving and supportive family should be the sole priority of these agencies. The State Board of Social Services must implement protections against such discrimination.
