I currently work with older youth in foster care and each day seek to fulfill the state's commitment to providing youth with safe, loving permanent connections.
I would urge the Board to reflect upon the Children's Services System Practice Model, which I believe provides all the guidance they need in making a decision. First and foremost is the belief that every child deserves a safe home. To deny a child a placement with parents based solely on their sexual orientation is to deny them a safe, loving connection.
By allowing state-licensed agencies to discriminate, regardless of their religious affiliations, the State has failed to uphold their vision for improving children's services.
Thank you for your conisderation on this crucial issue.
