I fully support a change in the regulation to allow the carrying of firearms within the state forests. My wife is a concealed carry permit holder. A few years ago we intended on hiking in the state forest and called the district office for fish and game to ask just that question and were met with much confusion. Eventually she was told it was ok for her to carry on the hike. A change in the regulation would clarify the matter.
