Commenter: Laurie A. - concerned parent

No mandatory vaccine!

First, you must provide a religious exemption, or you are in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, please provide an exemption for religious schools. They are not funded by the Commonwealth and government should respect their First Amendment/religious freedom rights.

There are several main reasons our family is opposed to the Commonwealth mandating a vaccine:

-It should be our parental decision to make and infringes on our parental rights as guaranteed in the Virginia Code 1-2401.1 which states “A parent has a fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education, and care of the parent's child.”  No governmental body should dictate what is best for my child and force an injection into their body for the many reasons I detail below.

-There is no mention of following the science of immunology. What about acquired immunity in the population of those who have already had COVID? Studies show that acquired immunity is better in most cases than receiving the vaccine.

-The vast majority of children who get COVID have minimal or no symptoms. Children suffering severe complications are outliers.

-The long-term side effects of the m-RNA vaccine on children are still unknown.

This is the United States of America not China.
