Governor should not ban guns.

The governor is intent on creating more defenseless American citizens with his irrational banning of guns in government buildings. The citizens of the United States of America have every right to protect themselves from terrorist assassins. For the governor of Virginia to take it upon himself to declare certain areas gun free zones and deny law abiding citizens the Constitutional right to protect themselves is not only bad judgement but is contrary to our Constitution. I very strongly oppose this politically motivated and extremely dangerous move by the governor to make law abiding citizens in those areas helpless victims of any attacker who wanted to harm them. This country was founded upon the principles of law and order and the right, yes the duty, to protect ourselves from those who have no respect for human life. As a Virginia State Police officer for thirty nine years, now retired, I cannot imagine why anyone would believe that law breaking radical or crazed people would honor the governor's order to not enter his gun free zones with their weapons. When these people who are intent on killing and maiming our citizens see a gun free zone, they realize they have been provided an area of defenseless targets of helpless people. This comment time should be extended and the legislature should have the opportunity to make the decistion about allowing our citizens the right to protect themselves everywhere in our state.
