I am in full support of granting licensure for Clinical Nurse Specialists. These changes address the current needs of healthcare in America by allowing Clinical Nurse Specialists to practice to the full extent of their education as recommended in the Institute of Medicine Report on the Future of Nursing. CNSs improve the quality of care patients recieive and improve outcomes. These recommendations are consistent with the Consensus Model for APRN Regulation and will recognize clinical nurse specialists as advanced practice nurses.
