I urge you to consider the emotional welfare of children and families, as well as the financial benefit to the state, in permanently retaining the consumer directed care model. First and foremost, it provides children with a safe and trusted caregiver. This is essential to their sense of security, health, and well-being. The vast majority of the time, a parent provides the most loving and compassionate care for their disabled child. Secondly, there is a critical shortage of qualified caregivers in Virginia. It's ultimately the children who suffer when they cannot receive adequate care. By allowing parents to willingly and lovingly fill this role, everyone wins - the children most of all. I urge you to please make this option permanent for disabled children and families in our state so that we can all thrive. Thank you. --Tanya
