The safety standards in place at Abortion Centers protect the health and safety of the women served. They are necessary and should not be considered a hinderance. Self regulation is not sufficient to ensure these safety standards are complied with. The proof point being the poor record of violations and corrective actions documented in inspection reports. I feel that the state agencies responsible should be staffed and budgeted to satisfactorily support compliance with the current regulations. Non compliant Abortion Centers should be closed. That's the right answer, not weakening the requirements, to resolve non compliance on paper only, at the expense of women's safety.
