I fully support efforts to remove our reliance on fossil fuels and create a more robust power grid. Renewables (solar in particular) are a great way to do this. Putting solar on every rooftop would create more than enough production capacity. We still do need storage capacity. I think this is where current energy generation companies (e.g. AEP) should start transitioning to grid operators / energy storage companies. The mountains are a great place to pump water uphill in the day and run turbines at night. The same "coal towns" could become energy storage towns.
