In Support of Trigger Point Dry Needling.....a perspective

Dry needling is not acupunture. It is not used to administer vaccines or medicines. It does not infringe upon someone elses practicing rights or scope. It is used to address pain within the scope of practice of a licensed PT with proper education and certification. How can you reject someone an alternative to address their pain and improve his/her function? Physical therapists are trained and educated, properly, to safely administer this treatment method.......plus all physical therapists are receiving their doctorates at this point in our profession. By completing the proper training, we are showing our practice is evolving and searching for the best and new ways to treat a patient to get them better and faster. Advancing in our thinking and the way we treat people, isn't that what healthcare professionalism is about?
