I was encouraged to hear that there is a move to end shackling pregnant female prisoners, especially during childbirth.  I believe we shackle prisoners only when there is a clear need to do so.  It must be obvious that it is neither necessary nor beneficial to anyone to shackle female prisoners during childbirth.
