Do not shackle pregnant women during labor

I am vehemently opposed to any proposal to shackle women during labor and in their postpartum delivery and recovery periods. It is absolutely inhumane and cruel.  Anyone supporting this proposal should be ashamed of themselves.

It is a risk to the health of the mother, of the child, and serves no purpose other than to demean and endanger a human being.  Regardless of what the woman did to merit incarcertaion, she still has some basic human rights and this is one of them.

There are other ways to preserve safety.  I'm counting on Virginia to do the right thing and reject this proposal.
