The guidance document I have reviewed is Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools. My concerns are addressed not only to my home county of Loudoun, but to the whole Commonwealth of Virginia.
The basis of the transgender policies that are the subject of this public-education institutional guidance document is that individual gender preference should take precedence over binary biological sex. It should not, and ought not. The policy is one of comprehensive repudiation of binary gender. It attempts to contradict a fact of nature -- that the chromosomes, and all resulting gender characteristics of a person's body, determine the sex of a person.
I am not accepting the redefinitions of what gender means or ought to mean that are promulgated by the ideology of transgenderism. But the subject document does that and far more. It presses for full-throttle indoctrination of children, on numerous levels, toward gender deconstruction. Not just for young people who may question their sexual tendencies, but for all students walking into the classrooms of public schools. And no doubt authors of this policy template would have such proposals go beyond public classrooms in the not-too-distant future.
I call upon the government of the Commonwealth of Virginia to reject this and any similar program of transgender propaganda tools. It represents "progress" in a dark, slick, downhill direction.
I hope that affirmation of nature's gender identity will take its place, to the better mental and spiritual health and welfare of children.
