Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

Proposed guidelines for Transgender in Schools

As a Virginia citizen of four in high school, I do not approve of the proposed guidelines fir transgender which is based on radical theories that eradicate all distinctions between male and female and indoctrinate our school children.

Regulating pronouns is absurd.  These guidelines are removing the parent from parenting their child.  The schools did not give birth to these children and should not be in the position of raising them.  VDOE must maintain a standard of educating children, not directing sexual identity or preference.  In addition, this is not factual or scientific at all.  How can any of these guidelines represent academics?  These guidelines belong to mental health professionals, not education department.

Not only are the guidelines as non factual and wrong, it discriminates against parents who embrace God-given identity.  These guidelines are an overreach of VDOE.

Where have the days gone when VDOE protected ALL children?  The guidelines purposely puts many children at-risk.  Sharing facilities is dangerous.  Why is it so difficult for VDOE to only educate children?  Why does VDOE have to impress transgender policies into the school and penalize those who oppose such guidelines?

Where is the protection of those students or staff who have strong religious beliefs?  Is VDOE now infringing on people of faith rights?  Will VDOE start accepting behaviors of pedophila? Again, VDOE is putting children at risk!

These proposed guidelines are a direct violation of rights for all people who oppose the indoctrination of transgender population in schools.  As a Virginia citizen, I oppose these proposed guidelines.
