Guidance Document Change: The Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia’s Public Schools guidance document was developed in response to House Bill 145 and Senate Bill 161, enacted by the 2020 Virginia General Assembly, which directed the Virginia Department of Education to develop and make available to each school board model policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools. These guidelines address common issues regarding transgender students in accordance with evidence-based best practices and include information, guidance, procedures, and standards relating to: compliance with applicable nondiscrimination laws; maintenance of a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment for all students; prevention of and response to bullying and harassment; maintenance of student records; identification of students; protection of student privacy and the confidentiality of sensitive information; enforcement of sex-based dress codes; and student participation in sex-specific school activities, events, and use of school facilities.

MANY MORE WILL REMOVE THEIR KIDS FROM PUBLIC SCHOOLS

I am strongly opposed to the proposed guidelines for transgender students in our schools. These guidelines are tyrannical, unscientific, and morally wrong. Any boy could claim to be a girl and go into the girl's locker room. Students could sleep together on overnight outings and teachers would be unable to object or inform parents about it. It puts students at risk instead of protecting them. It is not based on real science, but is directly opposed to science. It does not reflect the majority views of our society. It forces people to use certain speech at risk of punishment, which is tyranny. Most importantly, it violates God's moral standards and encourages sexual perversion. People who are confused about their gender have a psychological disorder, and the rest of society should not be forced to participate in their confusion. They should be protected and treated with dignity as human beings, but these policies are not about protection. They are forcing a worldview that many of us do not agree with. You will continue to lose many students from the public school system if you push this agenda. You are hurting and not helping your students, families, and society as a whole. I oppose these guidelines.
