Excellent action to help others!

Having known and loved many transgender people in my life, I have seen how important it is for them to feel comfortable when accessing public services, gaining employment, and other situations where a sex marker is taken into account. This law would make so much more sense than the current process requiring surgery to denote a change of sex. For example, top surgery for transmen can cost $5,000-8,000, and some transmen do not want to even have the procedure nor do they have the ability to access it. However, a vial of life changing testosterone hormones only costs $20-30, which is far easier for any trans person. We are blessed in Virginia to have many amazing clinics that can provide help with hormones and name change advice. But this law would most certainly help more trans people change just one small letter for far less money and provide comfort and affirmation to people who need it most. No longer will they cringe when realizing the only thing they have not been able to change is the letter they were assigned at birth. I urge all legislators to take action and sign this into law. It costs you almost nothing, but provides access to our most vulnerable.
Thank you,
