I am transgender and non-binary. I support these proposed amendments that will make it easier for people like myself to put all of our official state documents into alignment. (When the genders on our documents do not align, it can cause all kinds of legal and logistical headaches for transgender people.) I also agree with other commentators that the amendment would be even stronger if it included a so-called third gender or gender-netrual option, such as an "X" for people who are neither male nor female.
