Humans are responsible for the lives of our domesticated animals. Dogs and cats, in particular, are raised primarily as pets, who rely on us for their well-being.

Given the number of unwanted dogs and cats, it is understandable why all shelters cannot be "no kill". However, it is important to make sure that these animals have a chance at life, and that adequate time is given for owners of lost pets to reclaim them. Adequate record-keeping is needed!
