I strongly oppose this petition because Virgina shelters' record keeping is already thorough and complete. This is an attempt for the so-called "no-kill" advocates to inhibit the hard work that open-admission shelters do. As an animal caregiver for over 18 years, I have seen first hand the issues that homeless animals face. Animal shelters need to focus on the work at hand - animal welfare, adoptions, spay/neuter, and foster care. Imposing stronger record keeping rules on already overburdened animal shelters will not help animals. Further, as a former Virginia resident, I know that current record keeping rules are completely adequate and complete. Please oppose this petition!
