I definitely support the No Kill Advocacy Center Petition for Rulemaking filed on 1/23/15 with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (Board). I support the petitioner's request that the Board amend regulations for public and private shelters and require that certain records as described in the petitioner's request for each animal received be obtained and kept for 5 years to allow inspection by the Board and the public. Virginians have a strong interest in having information available about each animal received, the care while sheltered and the outcome. The petitioner's request for amended regulations fairly balances the public's right to know with accepted sheltering practices.
