Proposed amendments to Section 18 VAC 50-22-40, Section 18 VAC 50-22-50, Section 18 VAC 50-22-60 to remove language requiring a firm’s qualified individual to disclose past-due or outstanding debts on the Class A, B, & C application.

The requirement to disclose outstanding business debts should remain within the code. Removal of this requirement may unwillingly subject members of the public to potential threats. There are general contractors in this state who have numerous judgements/garnishments against them who do not fulfill their obligations. These same individuals require homeowners to sign contracts, take deposits or payment in full upfront, then never complete the their obligations outlined in the contract.

Careful consideration should be take in regard to the language of these sections.
