As a parent of a gifted student , former Gifted Cluster Teacher, and current Gifted Resource Teacher, I have seen our city's gifted program in various models and stages.    In Virginia Beach, the present approach to gifted education far surpasses the previous approaches.   I am adamantly opposed to the proposed changes.  If the proposal is adopted, I foresee the demise of  gifted education in our city, if not our state.
