Please do not adopt the new regulations for gifted education. By allowing each locality to set its own standards with no statewide supervision, the gifted education program as we know it would become fractured. The approval of local plans should be kept in the hands of the current evaluators, not the responsibility of local school boards. I urge you to consider the ramifications if the regulations are changed. The wasted potential of our gifted students in Virginia would be staggering!
