I strongly oppose the elimination of service facilitation and the introduction of brokers. During the service facilitator DMAS town hall, the DMAS representatives consistently said "that is a great question and we don't have the answer" to nearly any question or concern that was addressed. I strongly recommend CMS watch the posted link below of the town hall. If DMAS was truthful in not having any answers, how can they possibly be prepared to transition more than 25,000 people without a plan. I recommend CMS really understand the root of the problem, understand the logistics and challenges this type of major structural change will have on families, and be prepared to step in and assist our vulnerable population when this disaster strikes. I do support stronger regulation in the industry however not by eliminating the service. DMAS should better train and regulate the industry. Hold those accountable for actions that have led to this. I also think CMS should dive deeper into the challenges the fiscal agents already have - fiscal agents need to fix what they have before more work can be assigned to them. CMS should take a deeper dive into MCO regulation of hours - a clients approved hours should be the same regardless of MCO which they are not. This whole industry needs more regulation but not elimination.
