SF, EVV and Support Tonya Milling of ARC

Service Facilitators

As a mom of a Special Needs adult I am baffled by the state wanting to remove one of the few choices our families have to care for our individuals. Choosing your Service Facilitator should be a right. We have been fortunate that ours is very quick to respond by phone or email with questions, educates us on resources, helps us navigate CDCN and other authorizations but goes above and beyond in letting us know ‘other resources’ that are available that are not part of the system, a special gym etc. Our SF is also a mom of a special needs adult so she does know both the challenges and also resources in our community.

EVV

In regard to the EVV, CDCN was not correct in saying it is mandated by federal law for Live-in caregivers. Virginia was one of quite a few states that exempted live-in and it is still listed as an exemption in:  lis.law.virginia.gov under Administrative Code 12VAC30-60-65. Electronic Visit Verification. Yet CDCN will be providing the Broker services?

Soft Cap

I think Tonya Milling said it well as far as how this should be implemented. As others have said, the hours have already been reviewed, questioned and approved annually. I also support everything else she stated in her comments through the ARC of Virginia.

The state of Virginia has been under Dept of Justice settlement agreement for many years in the past due to the mistreatment of this same population. Are we going backwards!?
