Home and Community-based Service Waiver Amendments 1-01-27

I strongly oppose the proposed 56 hr per week on personal care being proposed.

As the father to a young adult nonspeaking autistic/epileptic I personally know how critical it is for my son, and so many of his like peers, to have significant Support Care Hours for personal safety and well being.

I ask thtat VA DMAS, State Delegates and Governor Spanberger seriously reconsider this harmful proposal. Families and individuals should not have to navigate an increasingly complex administrative process (EVV for Live-ins also another burdensome and overly tasking new requirement) simply to preserve services that have already been determined to be medically and functionally necessary.

Service Facilitators vs Support Brokers

It is not at all clear how DMAS plans to manage all this.  How will they address Eligibility interruptions, providers leaving, staffing shortages (or just finding and hiring appropriate staff), advocacy concerns and large regional caseloads?

At this juncture, it appears these changes would not only be cumbersome but also negatively impact many VA Disabled citizens. For these and many other concerns I do not support this change.
