The added stress on families, the lack of staffing...and further, future staffing will suffer even more because they are already having trouble, and these changes spell disaster. Families already struggle trying to coordinate and remain compliant. I am 24/7, with no regular respite. Multiple case workers and compliance. We tried going agency, and are back to facilitation for multiple reasons, but one of the main ones was because even basic companion services couldn't be staffed regularly, and they were often pulled to cover for people that didn't show up, got fired, quit, etc. The agencies are having problems already, this is undue stress on the whole system. It appears to be a precursor to institutional and extractive and/or separation from community living choices down the road for the individuals being served. What is going on that a blue State, with a blue Governor and blue Senators can't keep basic systems serving our vulnerable in a less than chaotic mess? The State has the power to correct some of these ridiculous decisions, yet chooses to ignore it. I absolutely oppose changes that don't increase attendant and companion hours and pay, that don't support the individual to live and thrive in their community, and seek to funnel funds to wink wink nod nod elbow rubbing systemic advantages to privatized and corporate supported agencies. We are the people of Virginia! Why is the insurance marketplace using admin services from Alabama? We need some answers.
