My son has an FIS Waiver. To have these "Support Brokers" as employees of the fiscal agents, it is a HUGE conflict of interest. How will they be working for the best interest of our most vulnerable population? Their loyalty will be to their employer, the fiscal agent.
I am also concerned with the timeline. We live in SW Virginia. My son's plan renews on April 1, and these "support brokers" are scheduled to start in SW VA on March 1. According to what I have read, service facilitation and support brokers cannot overlap. How will there be adequate training to get the plan submitted correctly and adequately in a timely manner to prevent lapse in services? My son and others shouldn't be "guinea pigs" for implementing this new requirement.
