VDOT Public Involvement Manual

General:  please consider having a professional editor review the document to make it more concise and clearer.  There are numerous grammatical, punctuation and formatting errors throughout the document.  I would also suggest left-justification only as studies have shown that it improves readability and comprehension.

Ex. Pg. 7.00-3 "An open forum public hearing (open house) encourages one-on-one discussions in an informal setting, the information about the new projects would be provided in a written format."

Check to make sure references to positions and divisions are correct e.g. District Administrator vs. District Engineer, Public Involvement Section vs. Communications Division, etc.

Please do away with the requirement to post hearing notices at the courthouse.  This is such an outdated means of communicating to the public.  Consider electronic means such as social media, which is a much more effective way to communicate.

Section 3.00-2.  Please reconsider stipulating that the location map in all publications be 8 1/2 x 11.  This requirement is rarely adhered to and is extremely costly.  Also, it would be helpful if an example location map were provided as well as a template for drafting public notices to be published in the paper.
