This bill will adversely affect the lives of African-American men and women who have for generations made their living fishing and harvesting Menhaden. I trust and believe that they know how to best handle this situation in a manner that will keep their industry alive and flourishing. They don’t need outside people telling them they can’t fish and make a living. These people know from experience what this industry is all about and how important it is and they’ll do everything they can to make sure this industry survives, they’re not going to put themselves out of business. So I trust them, I trust the people who have been doing this for generations and I do not trust the government or the Chesapeake Bay foundation or the sports fisherman or anyone else who’s trying to destroy their livelihood? .
