Protect Consumer Directed Program for parents/children!

The proposal you’re making is bad because spouses and parents of minor children should be allowed to work as consumer-directed home care workers, without unnecessary limitations like 40 hour caps/able to use respite hours because you can’t just get just anyone to do this job because you need someone w-compassion, patience, love and reliable to care for a loved one.   A lot of times a parent or spouse have to make the decision of giving up their profession because of what is best for that child or spouse and family.   It’s not easy to trust them in the hands of an agency when you know that loved ones medical condition more than most.  Even when our son was younger and even now it’s difficult to find those outside of a parent or spouse  and especially round the clock care with the poverty wages that Home Care Workers make.  Although we just got a wage increase from $8 or $9 an hour to now $12.71 in Richmond area & $16 + in Northern Va, it is difficult to find those who will work for these wages and offer quality care.  A spouse or child that’s going through needing someone to care for their daily needs deserve dignity and as much normalcy as possible that they can get from being surrounded by their love ones in the comfort of home.   My prayer is that each of you that are a part of this decision would take a moment and ask yourself, how would you feel if this was your spouse or child.  God bless you!
