Ethical Implications of EOR Placement and Information Privacy

The proposed changes to situate the EOR outside the home raise significant ethical concerns, particularly regarding information privacy and the duty of care. Requiring the EOR to interact with service facilitators who seek intimate details of the patient's health status and upcoming medical appointments introduces a potential breach of confidentiality. Placing individuals who lack the necessary knowledge and access to this confidential information in a position that necessitates their engagement with sensitive medical data compromises the ethical principles of autonomy, privacy, and informed consent. By overlooking the importance of preserving patient confidentiality and entrusting unfamiliar individuals with such sensitive information, the proposed changes not only contravene established ethical guidelines but also undermine the trust and integrity of the caregiver-patient relationship.
