Requirement for the EOR

The requirement for the EOR to be a nonrelative living within 50 miles poses even more significant challenges for families with a child with severe disabilities. Finding someone who meets these criteria and is willing to take on the responsibilities of the EOR without compensation is a challenging task.

Additionally, this requirement exposes the child's personal information, including social security numbers, to a nonrelative individual, potentially raising concerns about privacy and security. For families already navigating the complex landscape of caring for a child with severe disabilities, these burdensome requirements create additional barriers, making it even more arduous to access the necessary services and support.

It is crucial to reconsider these requirements and prioritize the well-being of these struggling families by allowing family members to act as the EOR and simplifying the process of obtaining appropriate care for their child.
