I am a fourteen year old with a waiver due to multiple disabilities and health concerns. Prior to COVID, I have had several different caregivers. Many of these caregivers were unreliable, brought in one illness after another despite being asked not to come when sick, and often mean, which left my parents with even more work than if they had not been hired. Since the pandemic, however, my parents have served as paid caregivers which makes our life so much easier because my parents are always here to care for me and know the right way to care for me and keep me safe. Cancelling the waiver would mean we have to return to bringing in hired help which is not only risky for me due to primary immune deficiency but will re-introduce the same problems as before.
