The Republican Party ed over SWVA by insisting on coal and only coal for years and years. The switch to cleaner energy is hard on people in this area not because of proponents of green legislation but because you and idiots like you tried to prevent this switch for as long as possible even as the metallurgic coal supply ran dry. Coal is dead, and the fact that it’s taken this long for Virginia to even half-admit this is shameful. Backing out of RGGI, a program that has been shown to increase states’ economic success and decrease harmful CO2 emissions, in the name of protecting your constituents is laughably offensive, and doing it via executive order is cowardly and only serves as proof that you know this wouldn’t fly otherwise.
