NOTICE OF INTENT TO AMEND (pursuant to §1902(a)(13) of the Act (U.S.C. 1396a(a)(13)) THE VIRGINIA STATE PLAN FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE The Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) hereby affords the public a notice of its intention to amend the Virginia State Plan for Medical Assistance to provide for changes to the sections for the Amount, Duration, and Scope of Services, and Methods and Standards for Establishing Payment Rates—Other Types of Care. The change concerns directly enrolling marriage and family therapists as Medicaid providers and reimbursing them for rendered services. Marriage and family therapists are to be reimbursed at 75% of the reimbursement rate for licensed clinical psychologists. DMAS does not expect any increase or decrease in annual aggregate expenditures. The agency is making this change at the direction of the 2004 General Assembly as contained in House Bill 224 (Chapter 125) and is to become effective July 1, 2004. There will not be any public hearings on this issue.
