Public Notice
Notice is hereby given that the Northampton County Wetlands Board will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, to consider and to hear public comments on three applications.
The meeting will begin at 8:00 AM with site visits to the affected properties, in the order in which the cases are listed below. The Board will reconvene at or around 10:30 AM that same morning in Board Chambers in the County Administration Building at 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Virginia, for the purpose of conducting public hearings.
VMRC 2025-1957: William W. Prettyman is applying for an after-the-fact permit for the construction of a low-profile retaining wall. The property is located on Long Point Road, Exmore VA, and is further described as Tax Map 19-A-14 along the shoreline of Nassawadox Creek.
VMRC 2025-2593: Joseph Mercer is applying for a permit to construct a
bulkhead with revetment and repair an existing bulkhead. The proposed
structures will consist of timber piles, tongue & groove timber sheet piles, and Type 1 or Class Ill rip rap. The property is located at 1870 Sand Hill Drive, Cape Charles VA, and is further described as Tax Map 1040-1-17 along the shoreline of Chesapeake Bay.
VMRC 2025-2814: Duane D. & Deborah Smith are applying for a permit to
construct a rip rap seawall lined with heavy duty filter cloth and filled with Class II rip rap. Class I stone will be placed on the entire wall to fill voids and stairs & rails installed for beach access. The property is located at 2391 Picketts Harbor Drive, Cape Charles VA, and is further described as Tax Map 104-1-A 1 along the shoreline of Chesapeake Bay.
