Purpose of the meeting
PURPOSE OF THE MEETING: The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will host the First Community Engagement Meeting for the Benthic TMDL Study on Watersheds in Henrico and Goochland Counties and the City of Richmond on Monday, July 10, 2023. The meeting is open to the public and any member of the public may participate in the proceedings. Meeting participants will assist in development of a cleanup study, also known as a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), to address benthic impairments on Deep Run, Dover Creek, Jordans Branch, North Run, Stony Run, Stony Run UT, and Upham Brook which have been listed on Virginia’s § 303(d) list of impaired waters for failing to meet Virginia’s water quality standards due to an altered benthic community. The meeting will discuss the stressor analysis, probable stressors for the benthic community, and watershed characterization land use information.
