| Purpose of the meeting The purpose of the public hearing is to seek the public’s input on the proposed Eastern Shore Rail to Trail Project, which will convert a 46-mile portion of the former Bay Coast Railroad between Cape Charles and Hallwood into a shared use path in the counties of Accomack and Northampton. The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will host this required public hearing, pursuant to §33.2-202. VDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project and its advancement and answer questions. The public is invited to offer input/comment on the project in various ways. A formal comment period will be held at the hearing. In addition, the public is invited to share feedback by submitting written comments or by completing an online survey by March 23, 2023. Details regarding submission of comments, link to the online survey, and options for reviewing the project information are set out in the attached agenda. An ASL interpreter is available upon request for any deaf individual at the event. The individual or a representative should contact VDOT's Civil Rights Division ahead of the event related to any needed accommodation.
