| Purpose of the meeting A public hearing on a draft permit amendment for the Augusta Regional Landfill located approximately one and one-half miles south of the City of Staunton. ACSA has applied for a modification to a permit that allows the Augusta Regional Landfill to operate an existing landfill in the County of Augusta, Virginia. This modification to the permit would allow the landfill to increase the landfill capacity by revising the closure grades at Phases 1 through 3 to a uniform grade of 3 horizontal to 1 vertical (3H:1V) along all outside slopes. This permit amendment will increase the landfill capacity in Phases 1 through 3 by approximately 720,000 cubic yards and will increase the overall landfill capacity (Phases 1 through 7) by approximately 456,000 cubic yards. The amendment includes revisions to design plans, operations manual, and design report. DEQ accepts comments by e-mail, fax or postal mail. All comments must include the name, address and telephone number of the person commenting and be received by DEQ within the comment period. DEQ also accepts written and oral comments at public hearings. The public may review the Draft Permit at the DEQ Valley Regional Office - DEQ, 4411 Early Road, Harrisonburg, Virginia, 22801. Copies of the permit documents are also available at the Augusta County Library at 1759 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, Virginia, 22939. The comment period on the draft permit amendment begins on January 9, 2011 and ends on February 25, 2011. | |
