Title VDA Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Handbook for Farmers

Summary This Handbook applies to all Farmers authorized with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services-Virginia Division for the Aging (DARS-VDA) to participate in the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Virginia, also called the Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Program. These procedures should be reviewed carefully before a Farmer signs an agreement to participate in the Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Program. The authorized Farmer must comply with principles and procedures outlined in this handbook to retain authorization.

Explanation or Citations The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Final Rule (71 FR 74618), published in the Federal Register on December 12, 2006, established the SFMNP as a formula grant program and the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 (the 2008 Farm Bill) P.L. 110-246 provided for funding of the program.
