In an effort to give children freedoms they aren’t mature enough to handle, in order to protect their feelings, a decision like this would not only punish those being forced to act in strong opposition of their core beliefs, but it would foster an environment that would endanger all children. Forcing a student or staff member to go against their beliefs to cater to someone else’s sexual preferences or confusions is no different than forcing a person to either acknowledge faith in Jesus Christ as God’s Son or else be punished. Either scenario would produce insincere behavior stemming from fear. Instead, worry more about teaching children to be kind and respectful of one another’s differences and challenges, as staff sets the example.
Don’t endanger young boys and girls. Don’t be the cause of fostering situations for rape and sexual abuse. This change pretends to protect some children, but would in the end harm them all.
