The support broker model may be a better fit for newly enrolled waiver recipients
If the Support Broker Model is approved by CMS, can CMS hold DMAS accountable to discuss a path to transition SFs as “private support brokers” so that waiver recipients can continue working with their current consumer-directed provider?
Assisting SF’s in this manner can smoothly transition waiver recipients by reducing unnecessary administrative hiccups with service authorizations and/or working with newly trained inexperienced support brokers.
FEA's can follow a similar provider credentialing process MCO’s currently have in place. As well as the ability to bill directly via a health information network and multi-payer provider portal.
SF's shouldn't be subject to the same application process as the general population based on several years of proven experience working with individuals and their families.
