I live in Oxford House- Pollard Park 2 in Richmond, Virginia. Oxford Houses are democratically self-governing and self-supporting under the Oxford House system of operations. Running the house together along with peer support has helped me grow so much in my recovery. It gas reminded me that I don't have to do it alone. It has also given me a sense of purpose, responsibility, and connection while allowing me to support others who are walking the same path. It has truly helped me become a stronger and better version of myself. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume that every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, even though research shows our model gets the best results.
