Hi my names is James and living in an Oxford House has saved my life. After I left rehab being there for alcohol and opioid dependency I was accepted into an Oxford House. Living here with fellow people in recovery has been and is most crucial in maintaining my sobriety. As someone who dislikes and distrusts so called professionals about chemical dependency having a house of like minded people who share such similar experiences has been the most helpful. It really is a brotherhood who pick each other up and we learn how to live in society so when we leave oxford we are 100 percent prepared to enter society without professional assistance. It’s the most effective way of sober living is having peer to peer and democratic housing. Oxford is a wonderful thing and it would devastate so many people in recovery if you change it to where it is pretty much a hospital setting rehab where so many don’t thrive and relapse. Please just let us live and support each other together as a community and brotherhood. Oxford housing is really a miracle!!!
