Commenter: Rick Blaes, House Treasurer of Oxford House Brookland Park

Oxford House is being ignored in the new regulations

I am a current resident of Oxford House Brookland Park in Richmond, VA.  I have resided here for almost a year. My house is a safe, clean, well run residence that is quite affordable. We are a democratically ran house. everyone has a voice in decision that affect all of us who reside here. We hold each other accountable.  We have rules that all must follow. We are also governed by our peers in other Oxford Houses in Richmond if any issues come up that our house cannot solve on our own.  We are self-supporting  and require zero public funding.  We are good neighbors  and have the support of the families around us. Like myself, many of my housemates would still be on the streets if it wasn't for Oxford House.

I am requesting that the new regulations for all recovery house to have a paid staff to be change so my self governing house will be able to stay open. Oxford Houses' model has proven results.

We are not a commercial business and should not be included with the other recovery businesses.  We are an unincorporated association.

   I support oversight .

Thank you for Your attention.
