My name is Casey and I have a cousin currently living in an Oxford house in Richmond VA. There was a really long time where we didn’t communicate, where I thought I would lose her. Today she stands tall. She speaks incredibly high of the organization & is constantly giving back to her community. She is a productive member of society and has goals and aspirations. She has made so much progress where she is and it would be a shame to risk losing all of the houses and what they stand for. It is paramount these houses stay open and continue to run on a democratic, self governing basis. Please keep them running as is. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, even though research shows our model gets the best results. Please change those rules, and please clarify whether house members are considered the operator.
